Yamaha FZ-15 ABS Reviews- The Yamaha FZ-15 ABS, a sports bike, is set to be released in India with an estimated price that is currently unknown. The launch of the FZ-15 ABS is anticipated to take place in December 2024. This bike will be in competition with the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon, Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat, and TVS Raider 125. At the Auto Expo 2024, Yamaha introduced the FZ-15 with flex fuel technology. It is equipped with a 149cc, 2-valve, 4-stroke air-cooled engine and a 5-speed manual transmission.

Additionally, it has an 11.9-liter fuel tank capacity and can utilize E20-E100 flex fuel. The specific launch date for this flex fuel bike has not yet been announced. Recently, Yamaha unveiled the updated ‘Fazer’ FZ-15 for the Brazilian market, incorporating both mechanical and cosmetic enhancements. We expect a similar version of this bike to be introduced in India either by the end of this year or early in 2024. The 2024 FZ-15 comes equipped with a fresh set of tires. The motorcycle now features premium Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 tires as standard, with a 100-section tire at the front and a 140-section tire at the rear. These tires are mounted on 17-inch wheels. In terms of its instrument cluster, the FZ V4 has been updated to include a gear-position indicator, which is a new addition after running for 14 years with the same design featuring negative backlit LCD.

The redesigned all-LED headlight now bears a stronger resemblance to its larger sibling, the FZ 25. Additionally, the tail-lamp has been completely redesigned and is now an all-LED unit with a unique appearance compared to the previous model. While the seat, body panels, and exhaust muffler seem almost identical to those of the current model, we expect them to remain unchanged when it arrives in the coming months.

The FZ V3 in India and the Brazilian spec FZ both utilize a 149cc single-cylinder engine. However, Yamaha has made a significant update to the motor for 2024, allowing it to run on both ethanol and petrol. In terms of power, this engine can generate 12.2bhp in petrol mode and 12.4bhp in ethanol mode, both at 7500rpm instead of the previous 7250rpm. However, the torque figures have decreased from 13.3Nm to 12.7Nm. In comparison, the Indian version of the Yamaha FZ V3 produces 12.4bhp and 13.3Nm of torque.

LED lighting

The primary update to the 2024 FZ-15 is its front appearance. It now features a headlamp arrangement that resembles the one found on the FZ-25 sold in India. The innovative headlamp design incorporates full-LED lighting, including LED DRLs and an LED projector. However, the rest of the design remains unchanged from the FZ V3 model available here. It includes faux air vents on the muscular fuel tank, a single-piece seat, and a compact exhaust canister. Yamaha is presenting the FZ-15 in Brazil in three basic color options – blue, red, and black.

Performance

In terms of performance, the new version of the single-cylinder air-cooled engine with a displacement of 149cc has experienced a decrease. The maximum power remains unchanged at 12.4hp but is now achieved at a slightly higher revolution per minute (rpm) of 7,500 compared to 7,250 in the previous model. On the other hand, the torque has decreased by 0.9Nm, resulting in a total of 12.4 Nm and is also produced at a higher rpm of 6,000 instead of 5,500 in the existing FZ-FI.

Wheelbase

It is worth noting that the Brazilian version of this bike also runs on ethanol, which is a common practice in Brazil. Therefore, it remains uncertain if the bike will have the same performance numbers when it arrives here. The wheelbase and seat height remain unchanged at 1,330mm and 790mm, respectively. Although the weight of the bike stays the same at 135kg, the fuel tank capacity has decreased to 11.9 liters from its current capacity of 13 liters.

Braking

The total ground clearance has been increased by 5mm, resulting in a new measurement of 170mm. The preload-adjustable monoshock now features a yellow spring instead of the black one found on the current model. The remaining hardware components, including the front fork, braking system, and single-channel ABS unit, remain unchanged from the existing model.
