Latest Update

The Nexon EV is the all-electric version of the Tata Nexon compact SUV, also known as the Nexon. The major characteristics include 129 horsepower, a 312 km ARAI-certified range, and an 8 year/160,000 km warranty on the 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Only a few locations presently sell the Tata Nexon EV, which is more expensive than the standard petrol and diesel Nexons. The Mahindra eXUV300, which will be offered in 2021, will be a rival to the Tata Nexon EV even though it doesn’t presently have any rivals with pricing that are comparable. Two further electric SUVs to consider are the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV.

Introduction

The Nexon EV is an excellent city car. For daily driving, the acceleration and performance are more than sufficient. When the selector dial is set to Sport, the Nexon EV accelerates even more quickly. The added safety of ESC is absent in these situations since stomping on the accelerator pedal will send the front wheels spinning. It will take some getting used to for purchasers coming from a car with a combustion engine to use the regenerative braking on the Nexon EV. Regen braking has a single level that results in a rather sudden deceleration and cannot be changed in terms of intensity. Hill-start assistance is a great feature, although it doesn’t ‘hook’ right away.

The Nexon EV doesn’t appear to be particularly comfy on the highway. Acceleration slows down beyond 100 kph, and the Nexon EV’s peak speed is 120 kph. However, a rapid ride’s solidity is reassuring. Due to its quick steering, quick turn-in, and precise body control, the Nexon EV is fun to drive in curves. At slow speeds, the Nexon EV has a stiffer ride than the standard Nexon and doesn’t seem to be as absorbent. Despite the Nexon EV’s 312km certified range not having been tested, you may expect a real-world range of 180–220km. Knowing that a typical 15 amp AC outlet can charge the battery pack completely from 20% to 100% in eight hours is reassuring. A DC quick charging system will be used.

The Impact Design 2.0 language is the foundation of the Nexon EV. The athletic grille in the bottom part of the bumper, which has recognizable tri-arrow parts, draws attention to the fascia. It’s also difficult to overlook the Humanity Line between the headlights. The more expensive model comes with a sunroof and front wipers that sense the presence of rain. Additionally, it receives a new set of alloy wheels to differentiate it apart from the standard version.

Interior

The Nexon EV is equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel made by Altroz and a basic instrument panel that displays data on the charge level, driving range, battery usage, turn-by-turn navigation, and other things. A seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and automated temperature control are further features on the list. The Nexon EV received a five-star safety certification in GNCAP crash testing, making it the safest electric SUV made in India. Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and cornering stability control are included as standard safety features.
