Yamaha FZ-15 ABS- The Yamaha FZ-15 ABS, a sports motorcycle, is scheduled to be launched in India at an undisclosed price. The release of the FZ-15 ABS is expected to occur in December 2024. This bike will compete with the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon, Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat, and TVS Raider 125. During the Auto Expo 2024, Yamaha introduced the FZ-15 with flex fuel technology. It comes equipped with a 149cc, 2-valve, 4-stroke air-cooled engine and a 5-speed manual transmission.

It also features an 11.9-liter fuel tank capacity and can utilize E20-E100 flex fuel. The specific launch date for this flex fuel bike has not yet been announced. In terms of its instrument cluster, the FZ V4 has received an update that includes a gear-position indicator. This is a new feature after using the same design with a negative backlit LCD for 14 years.

The redesigned all-LED headlight now resembles its larger sibling, the FZ 25, more strongly. Moreover, the tail-lamp has undergone a complete redesign and is now an all-LED unit with a unique appearance compared to the previous model. Regarding performance, there has been a reduction in the new version of the 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. The maximum power remains the same at 12.4hp, but it is achieved at a slightly higher revolution per minute (rpm) of 7,500 instead of the previous model’s 7,250. Conversely, the torque has decreased by 0.9Nm, resulting in a total of 12.4 Nm and is also produced at a higher rpm of 6,000 compared to the existing FZ-FI’s 5,500.

Engine & Performance

Both the FZ V3 in India and the Brazilian spec FZ utilize a 149cc single-cylinder engine. However, Yamaha has made a significant update to the motor for 2024, enabling it to operate on both ethanol and petrol. In terms of power, this engine can generate 12.2bhp in petrol mode and 12.4bhp in ethanol mode, both at 7500rpm instead of the previous 7250rpm. However, there has been a decrease in torque figures from 13.3Nm to 12.7Nm. When compared to the Indian version of the Yamaha FZ, it produces 12.4bhp and 13.3Nm of torque.

LED lighting

The main update for the 2024 FZ-15 is its revamped front look. The new design takes inspiration from the FZ-25 sold in India, featuring a similar headlamp arrangement. This innovative headlamp design incorporates full-LED lighting, including LED DRLs and an LED projector. Although the bike’s weight remains unchanged at 135kg, its fuel tank capacity has been reduced to 11.9 liters from its current capacity of 13 liters.
