Additionally, the Ducati Scrambler Mach 2.0 is scheduled to be launched in India in February 2024 as another comparable option to the Leoncino 800. Unveiled at the 2019 EICMA in Milan, Italy, the Leoncino 800 showcases a design that draws inspiration from scrambler motorcycles and bears resemblance to the Leoncino 500. What’s new?

The Leoncino 800 is the street-friendly model of the two bikes, while the Leoncino 800 Trail incorporates some off-road elements, although it is not a complete off-road motorcycle. In 2022, both versions of the Leoncino 800 receive an enhanced tubular trellis frame chassis, which is designed to provide better off-road capabilities.

The suspension on both bikes has been upgraded. Both bikes come with a 50mm upside-down front fork, but with varying levels of travel. The standard Leoncino 800 has a travel of 130mm, while the Trail version has a travel of 140mm. Additionally, the rear monoshock, which can be adjusted for preload, has also been updated. In the standard model, it now offers up to 48mm of travel, while in the Trail model, it offers up to 50mm of travel. As a result of the different suspension setup, the Trail version has a higher seat height of 834mm compared to the standard 800’s height of 805mm.

The Leoncino 800 is equipped with alloy wheels and 17-inch tires (120/70 front, 180/55 rear) on all sides. On the other hand, the Trail variant has 19-inch front (120/70) and 17-inch rear (170/60) tires with steel spoke wheels. Both models feature Brembo brakes with 320mm discs at the front and a 260mm disc at the rear. The 2022 Leoncino 800 models come in three color options: Grey, Green, and Brown.

Features

The Benelli Leoncino Bike 800 is an ideal option for individuals in search of a versatile bike. It boasts numerous features that cater to a wide range of riders. Among the standout features are the comfortable seat, wide tires, and powerful engine. Whether it’s for commuting, city riding, or embarking on longer journeys, the Benelli Leoncino Bike 800 is perfect. In terms of wheels and tires, the Trail version has steel spoke wheels with a 19-inch front tire (120/70) and a 17-inch rear tire (170/60). On the other hand, the Leoncino 800 model comes with alloy wheels and 17-inch tires all around (120/70 front, 180/55 rear). Both variants also come equipped with Brembo brakes, featuring 260mm discs at the back and 320mm discs up front.

Engine

The Beneli Leoncino is equipped with a 754cc parallel-twin engine that generates 76PS of power and 67Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox that incorporates a slip-and-assist clutch. The Leoncino is constructed on a trellis frame and features a Marzocchi 50mm inverted fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The bike also comes with high-quality braking components, including dual 320mm discs with Brembo radial calipers at the front and a 260mm rear disc.

Dual-channel ABS is provided as standard. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli MT60 RS dual-purpose tires. Noteworthy additions include a TFT screen with directional buttons on the switchgear and all-LED lighting. Both motorcycles are equipped with a 754cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, twin-cylinder engine that adheres to the Euro 5 standards. This engine generates a power output of 76.2hp at 8,500 rpm and a torque of 67Nm at 6,500 rpm. The power is transferred to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox, which is aided by a slipper clutch.

Torque & Suspension

The scrambler is equipped with a 754cc parallel-twin engine that produces 75PS and 67Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. It features a steel trellis frame and utilizes a 50mm USD fork and monoshock suspension system. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels and is equipped with a 320mm disc brake at the front and a 260mm disc brake at the rear. Additionally, it offers the safety benefits of dual channel ABS.

The braking system consists of two 320mm discs squeezed by Benelli’s own radially mounted four-piston calipers at the front, and a 260mm disc with a two-piston setup at the rear. A firm squeeze is all it takes for strong stopping power, although initially I felt that the front brakes lacked feedback.

Stylish & Interior

The rider ergonomics on the standard Leoncino 800 are quite decent, as both the brake and clutch levers can be adjusted for span. The seat height is also very accessible at 805mm. On the Trail version, the seat sits higher at 834mm, partly due to taller suspension. The handlebars are conveniently within reach and the switchgear, aside from the TFT controls, is straightforward and user-friendly.

The price point of the Leoncino 800 becomes evident in its TFT display. Although it is a significant improvement compared to the Leoncino 500, showcasing speed, odometer, and trip meters with impressive clarity, it does not offer additional features commonly found in a TFT display, such as Bluetooth phone connectivity or navigation.

Rivals

The Benelli Leoncino 800 will compete with QJ Motor SRV 300, Keeway V302C, Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, Kawasaki W800 Street, Kawasaki Vulcan S, Benelli 502 C in the market.

Launch Date & Price

The Benelli Leoncino 800 will be launched on October 2024 as a cruiser bike at starting price of Rs. 8.50 Lakh in Indian market.
