Renault Koleos Reviews- Renault has unveiled the latest edition of Koleos at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show, which has undergone a complete redesign and bears no resemblance to its previous version. The car is based on the CMF platform that was developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance and is also used for Nissan X-Trail. While engines available in China include a 2.0-litre 150bhp motor and a 2.5-litre 186bhp engine matched with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, it is unclear if the new Koleos will be launched in India due to the poor performance of its predecessor.

The Koleos competes with Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V among others in its class. The new trim of this vehicle has been introduced with a choice of four captivating exterior paint options. These include a vibrant Maple Red shade, a subtle Black Metallic shade, a magnificent White Pearl garnish, and an Ultra Silver color shade. Overall, the updated version of the Renault Koleos has a rugged appearance that will certainly attract SUV enthusiasts in India.

After its comeback in India, Renault introduced high-end models that set it apart from other car manufacturers focused on capturing the mass market. The premium SUV Koleos was among the first additions to Renault’s lineup for the domestic market. Despite being a commendable product, the SUV fails to gain attention amidst fierce competitors who have consistently established their reputation. The SUV is powered by a new generation 2.0-liter dCi diesel engine, available in two power outputs. The manual transmission is offered on both 2WD and 4WD variants, while the automatic transmission is exclusive to the 4WD variant.

The Renault Koleos trim offers numerous enhancements in terms of comfort. In contrast to other SUVs in the D segment, the Koleos has a relatively compact appearance. At the front are petal-shaped headlamps flanking a chrome-finished radiator grille. The large bumper incorporates fog lamps, air-dams, and a silver skid plate. The side profile showcases a rising beltline that starts from the A-pillar and extends to the tail lamps. Engine 

Beneath the hood, you’ll find a 2.0-liter dCi engine that comes in two power options – 171bhp and 148bhp. The higher-powered version offers 360Nm of torque and includes a 4WD system. On the other hand, the 148bhp version has a 2WD system and is paired with a manual transmission, unlike the 4WD variant which also offers an automatic gearbox as an option. The vehicle can reach 100 Kmph in just 9.9 seconds, highlighting its power and performance capabilities. Additionally, this revamped SUV has an ARAI certified mileage of 16.26 Kmpl, which is quite commendable.

Performance

The power and torque output of the engine in this high-end variant have been enhanced through tuning. This 2.0-liter diesel engine has a displacement capacity of 1995cc. It is a dCi engine with 4 cylinders, 16 valves, and a turbocharging unit, allowing it to generate a maximum power output of approximately 170.6bhp and a peak torque output of around 360N

Mileage

According to claims, the 2WD manual version achieves a fuel efficiency of 17.15 km/l compared to the 4WD manual version which delivers 16.26 km/l. The only automatic trim in the lineup has a mileage rating of 14.56 km/l. The SUV comes equipped with features such as a smart access card, engine start/stop function, dusk sensor, rain sensor, rear parking sensor, cruise control, 12V power outlets, and an on-board trip computer.

Accessories & Infotainment

In contrast to the 4WD trims which come with a Bose audio system, the 2WD variant of Koleos is equipped with an Arkamys audio system. Other features available on the Koleos include speakers, subwoofers, amplifier, tweeters, AUX-In, iPod, MP3, radio, and Bluetooth. Safety features onboard consist of electronic stability program, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, driver & passenger airbags, front-side airbags, front & rear curtain airbags, child safety rear lock, speed-sensing door lock, automatic emergency unlock and front powered anti-pinch function.

This makes it a great option for those who frequently travel long distances. It is worth noting that fuel efficiency may vary depending on driving conditions and other factors such as traffic congestion and terrain. Transmission

In India, the only available option is the diesel version. The 4X4 models of this vehicle are equipped with a 1998 cc, four-cylinder engine that generates a power output of 172 bhp and a torque of 360 Nm. On the other hand, the 4X2 variant receives 150 bhp from the same engine. All versions of this vehicle come with a 6-speed gearbox, with one of them being automatic.

According to the company, the 4X4 AT version of the car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 mph in 11.9 seconds and can travel a distance of 14.5 kilometers on every liter of diesel it uses. Although the speed performance of the 4X2 variant does not match that of other variants, it is said to cover a distance of 17.15 kilometers per liter. Braking System

The presence of ABS and EBD greatly enhances the safety of stopping the car. Even in wet conditions, you can confidently apply full brakes without worrying about the car sliding.
